Hydraulic Bleed Off Flow Control

Other than for safety reasons a pressure relief valve is not required. as operating pressure, P, is determined by the external loading of the actuator. Velocity, v, is controlled by bleeding off flow from the fixed displacement pump, which in this arrangement acts as source of constant flow.  The difference between pump flow and throttled flow is the effective flow fed to
the actuator.

(1) This is the most efficient circuit, since operating pressure, P, is directly related to the external load.
(2) Only opposing loads can be controlled.
(3) Particularly attractive for applications requiting relatively constant velocity at varying actuator loading, e.g. conveyors, lifts.
